Funny how I mentioned in another thread (not even 2 days ago) that the way to grow the sport of cheer is to find marketable athletes and promote them as stars. I'm a regular Nostradamus.

Well, if by her signing this deal, all-star becomes more recognized and well-known, by all means, go for it. I hope she does all-star-related things and brings lots and lots of new interest to the sport we love.

    Sincerely,

I'm just wondering what the point of doing all of this after she has aged out of the senior division. She's going to cheer in college, no? How much promotion can they do for her.

    Good for her, I guess.

Interesting. If she competes in STUNT at UNC shell be a pro athlete competing in an amateur sport.

Past that good luck to her.

Wouldn't this interfere with any sort of college scholarships? I thought her dad had said she was one of the Moorehead Scholars or something..

Which becomes tricky if STUNT ends up being a fully-sanctioned NCAA sport. Google Jeremy Bloom.

This is going to come out unintentionally rude, but why does she need management? She aged out of allstars, and international isn't as big of a deal (Not an insult, but an int. team from CEA won't seem as big of a deal as SE). What does she need managing for?

This seems a bit much, shes aged out and shes going to college what all will the management team do for her? im just confused why she needs a team to handle her stuff, but they can hire me i cant imagine they would be doing to much, she will have school and practices to go to.

I love maddie, but there are thousands of girls that work their butt off in practice and are just as good as her. Wheres their promotion?

I think ProX took a similar approach. Start treating the stars of the sport like superstars and things will fall into place. Cheer is still relatively young, so there are a lot of pieces still feeling itself out.

This is a little off topic but I had an uneasy feeling when someone pointed out that a site was congratulating Maddie and her team, like they were her back up singers. I know pro basketball teams have their Jordan's and such but it still doesn't settle well for many reasons when some of these kids are over celebrated. I know there are "Maddie's" everywhere that may not be fortunate enough to live close enough to go to a premier gym to get the same recognition and I think that reducing everyone else as into categories as "her team" is bad for this sport in the big picture.

From a business standpoint this missed the mark. Here's why:
    1. As mentioned above, she's aged out of the sport. Her shelf life is short and the expiration date is fast approaching.
    2. She has already signed endorsement deals, so her agent is jumping on board after all the details have been hammered out.

    Here's why it's a good idea:
    1. The agent will help her negotiate for better endorsement deals
    2. Don't have to worry about STUNT/NCAA eligibility. It's not going to become an NCAA sport in 4 years, it's a longer process.
    3. My money is on her "writing" a book, the agent will help with that.
    4. She'll probably end up also doing commentary etc, again the agent will help.
