I'm still working on my standing tuck. Never been a tumbler. I haven't got it down yet but I'm letting different people spot me boys and girls (not only my coach anymore) and I'm kinda proud of myself. I'm also giving myself a small pat on the back for not giving up yet and still working on it. It has gotten better so far but I still need a spot.

For some of y'all who may remember I posted a thread months ago in regards to my daughters tumbling being slow and she was going to lose her pass if she didn't speed it up.
However she did lose her pass in the running tumbling section but it wasn't because of her speed (she got that fixed as i posted a month or so ago) but they changed it and had her tumbling with someone else so she only is doing a front walkover, RO, BHS, BHS. She was sad at first because it wasn't as long but she understood it was a team thing.

Well anyways she was in the pyramid previously but we changed it too and it just wasn't working. So she was going to hide behind it because she is to small to base any of them.

So on Tuesday we had an extra practice and she asked the coach to watch a pass she made up. The coach did and then as the coach was walking away jaylen said do you think I can tumble in front of the pyramid and the coach said yes. I never seen my daughter get so happy about any place in the routine as she did that. So we competed this weekend and she did this tumbling pass:

Running round off, BHS, BHS, BHS step-out.
Then front walkover, round off, BHS step-out, round off, BHS, BHS

She told me that tumbling is better then flying in a pyramid and she is so happy. She already had these skills so it's nothing new but it is so cute.

Now all we have to work on is the step after her front walkover and show her how to clean to the crowd because the ending was ugly lol. She will get there.

First of all she is adorable! It's so exciting when they get skills they have been working so hard on, I thought I was going to pass out when mine tumbled last night

Our coaches tell the girls to "be the steak", I can't remember what the analogy they used was but it equates to the girls really selling it to the judges. Phoebe started out with just cleaning to her hips and smiling, now she thinks she's on Shooting Stars. What really brought her out of her shell was taking private lessons with two girls from Panthers when we were at CA. She would watch them run parts of their routine and started copying them.
She has gotten out of control though, one of her coaches loves to tell a story about how her "fierceness" made her completely miss a stunt going on behind her....that she was supposed to be front spotting. She was to busy doing a voice over to the judges

Lol I love that! She has never had enough time to do it in running tumbling so she hasn't really had to remember to do it. This is day 1.. And she said she couldn't stop looking at the pyramid because she didn't think it would hit.

Now on day 2 after seeing this I reminded her and she showed me what she was going to do and everything and it was so cute but on day 2 the pyramid came crashing down. Both sides and when she landed she had the best facial expression it looked like she just saw a ghost and she just stared at the pyramid. I wish I was closer on day 2 because I would of totally uploaded it but you can't really tell in the video I have from that day. But hey maybe next competition she will remember I will say this season as far as all the other parts of the routine she is really Starting to show personality with the facials and I loveeee it!

I would love to see your daughter perform I bet she is sooo cute!! & congrats on her new skill! She will be able to do 3 or more in no time!!!

So I have been a level 5/6 athlete for 5 years now but I have NEVER had any pass that included a back handspring. Most of my tumbling was self taught so I did not follow progression at all so I have been very limited by my lack of flexibility and backhandspring.

Recently I took it upon myself to get a workable handspring that I could do something with. I have had my double full out of a round off for 3 years but finally today I have for the first time EVER done my double out of a backhandspring.

To some this may seem trivial... but to me, adding in the backhandspring is a blessing from the cheer gods themselves. Here is a video so you can fully understand how sad my bhs is.... hehe but I am still proud of how far I have come.

Congrats AcaseA! You would not believe how many level 5 kids don't have back walkovers! The Junior 2 and Youth 1 girls will be warming them up in tumbling and med coed has to have a spot...cracks me up.
Just make sure your arms are by your ears and block through the shoulders instead of bending at the elbows (at least that's what cp's coaches are always telling her...lol).

Sorry I'm blowing this thread up but someone was spotted doing her round off bhs x 3 and has been cleared for take off on tucks. OMG I have a tumbler now.....she told me "fulls don't look that hard..."
Once again I heard "everyday she becomes more and more like Morgan McDavid on med coed..." I'm so glad she has a great role model to look up to!

Ok, I have to be a PMM - Psycho Mini Mom - bear with me, I'm new at this. So, the boy went to the gym last night for his first private ever with the most amazing tumble coach that ever lived. He self-taught his BHS on the beach last summer but has since gotten into the habit of landing on his knees. By the time we left last night, his BHS was nice and cleaned up and he was throwing standing tucks!! His sister totally hated on him for getting skills that fast, and I just had to laugh

I took some video of cp's new tumbling. Two weeks ago she couldn't get her feet under her in her back handspring....
This was at the end of practice so she was a little tired.

New pass

After nearly a year of stops, starts, backsliding, crying, tears, "almost" having it on the floor then not having it, technique issues, confidence issues, issues with other kids' tumbling blocks getting in my daughter's head and a whole lot of effort...

My daughter has now done relatively solid robhs tucks, on the floor, by herself, for several practices in a row now. I hope I'm not jinxing her by saying that. And her punch front and aerial have come a long way as well.

I'm so proud of her for pushing through and seemingly getting a skill which she has been *this* close to getting for nearly a year. It'd have been easier for her to give up, and she almost did at one point. But she persevered.

Yes, she did gymnastics until we moved to Texas. Gymnastics is a little more crazy out here than what she was used to and burned out. We intended to just do tumbling classes but after one class (with Tye Hill) she wanted to join all stars that day. My oldest dd who is 14 cheered from age 5-10 in Arizona, mostly with Arizona Heat. She doesn't cheer anymore, always talks about wanting to start again but I think cheer in Texas would be to intense for her (she likes to perform but hates to work).
