what are your views on the drama between high school cheerleaders and all stars cheerleaders? is equal amount of work being put in on both teams in your opinion?

I think that it depends on how hard you work. I have done all star and high school and I find them both very hard in their own ways.

It just depends on the school and level of cheering! I think high school cheer is harder on your body because of the hard floor, but Allstar can do the same damage. Some high school teams are better than Allstar teams! But then again that just depends on your team.

I also think it depends on your school & it's coaches. I personally had terrible school coaches (they were raised as dancers but couldn't get the dance coach position so they assumed cheer would be easier.

) These coaches believed allstar cheerleading was the worst thing to happen to our planet. I.could.not.take.it. They couldn't stop telling me and my friend who cheered at my gym "I just don't like allstar cheerleaders." But if your school is closely related to allstar...it's a different story. But mine was awful.

I think it depends on the level of competition for HS squads, you have some squads that do not compete, in that case you may want to do AS; however, if your HS is very competitive, I like HS.....at least according to my daughter

A lot of AS cheerleaders say that HS cheer isn't as hard, and all we do is say "Go Team Go". But it's veryyy different. I've done both, but I think HS cheer is a little harder because we don't really get "levels" to work our way up. It's just we start stunting and when the coach wants to teach us something new, they teach it. I love doing bothh.

it totally depends on the school. some schools are doing full ups to lib and giddy ups and some can't even hold a prep.
my rival school dropped a thighstand at their last assembly

Okay. I believe that all competition cheerleading is a sport. No matter the level. Sideline cheer is so difficult, but does not necessarily meet the criteria of a "sport", as you don't compete with anyone. Allstar cheerleaders who constantly belittle highschool cheer is my absolute pet peeve. Cheer is cheer. How do we expect others to respect our sport if we don't respect the different types? Excuse me for pulling a race card out, but that's like Asians hating the Indians. They're both Asian, just a different type.

I've seen it once, but it was with 3rd graders, and their coaches weren't watching or telling them how to do it properly...

It depends on what type of program either has. Check out what they have done at compitions.

It depends. Some high schools are very serious and work very hard. I think that most of the time, all star cheerleading is more work because it is much more serious, organized, and difficult. A lot of high schools don't work as hard and don't reach our level of difficulty. But there ARE some high schools who are very good and might be as good as allstar teams. either way, we are all cheerleaders and we all share the same passion. So we should all get equal respect.

Some high schools have more talented cheer teams than others. This one school around where I live has a Varsity team full of girls who have cheered together since they were like 5! They've stunted with each other forever, so they know how to work together. All the girls have tumbling, and they can all execute elite stunts. There's other schools that have a team full of girls that have never cheered before. But it's tough to compare high school to All-Star in my opinion! The girls work on such a higher level and have more opportunities to try new things (professional coaches, spring floors for tumbling, tumbling tracks, etc.) whereas high schools have volunteer coaches.

My CP cheered for an All star gym for 5 years then the Gym closed. The owner also coached an amazing Middle School Team so she decided to go there and cheer. She was bored out of her mind. They didn't practice as much and they would cancel practice at the last minute all the time. The team had a lot of all star kids on it so they won most of there comps anyway. She is a level 5 cheerleader and Middle school cheer was not nearly as hard. Thanks to one of the former coaches at the old gym he started a team and she has been back to All Star for 3 years and is not interested in HS cheer at all.
